CECU Statement on U.S. Secretary of Education Nomination

Career Education Colleges and Universities (CECU)

Arlington, VA – Dr. Jason Altmire, president and CEO of Career Education Colleges and Universities (CECU), offered the following statement on news reports that Linda McMahon may be nominated as President-elect Trump’s Secretary of Education:
We strongly endorse this selection. Linda McMahon has extensive experience that positions her well to address many of the key areas that will be education priorities in the new administration. We look forward to working with the new secretary and the team assembled around her. Under her leadership, we are confident that the new Department of Education will take a more reasoned and thoughtful approach in addressing many of the overreaching and punitive regulations put forth by the Biden administration, especially those targeting private career schools. Should she be confirmed by the Senate, we look forward to working with her and her team to address these issues and create a fair regulatory framework that promotes student success and holds all schools across higher education accountable for their outcomes.
