Cal Poly San Luis Obispo has ranked as the state’s sixth most competitive public school – only admitting a third of its applicants in 2022, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
UC Davis trailed Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a 37% acceptance rate, followed by San Diego State University and California State University Long Beach.
CSU Long Beach’s director of admissions Andrew Wright told the Chronicle that admissions rates are closely connected with the number of continuing students – as the number of continuing students largely determines how many applicants they can admit to the university.
“As we saw a higher number of students continuing for Fall 2022, our admissions rates would follow suit since we did not have increased space availability,” he wrote in an email to the Chronicle.
