Advocacy Alert: USDE Announces Public Hearings on Negotiated Rulemaking Committee

As part of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education’s (MSCHE’s) strategic priority to promote advocacy initiatives for its members and others, we want to bring to your attention the recent announcement regarding public hearings on establishing a higher education rulemaking committee.
The United States Department of Education (USDE) announced its plans to initiate a new round of negotiated rulemaking in 2023. On July 6, 2023, USDE announced that public hearings on establishing a higher education rulemaking committee will be held July 18, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

According to the announcement, “[t]he committee will include representatives of organizations or groups with interests that are significantly affected by the subject matter of the proposed regulations.”
Register for the public hearings.
Written comments can also be submitted by July 20, 2023, at the Federal Register.
