The Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) has completed its review and revision of the 2019 Recognition of Accrediting Organizations Policy and Procedures. The revisions were approved by the CHEA Board of Directors at its October 4, 2021, meeting with an implementation date of January 1, 2022.

The 2021 CHEA Standards and Procedures for Recognition (Standards and Procedures) is available on the CHEA website and has been distributed to all CHEA-recognized accrediting organizations. The Standards and Procedures include a section entitled “Suggested Evidence,” which provides accrediting organizations seeking initial or continuing recognition with guidance as they prepare their applications for recognition.
